provinces of Flevoland and Fryslân, and those held in the city of Hamburg. An
interacitive learning group, ILG, is an interactive learning process on a certain topic,
in this case flood risk, consisting of several workshops and based on the David A.
Kolb's theory on experiential learning. In all three cases the ILGs proved to be an
entrance to the risk awareness of participants. The awareness of the participants
is measurably raised, as is their trust in their owen knowledge and ability to act in
case of an emergency. The process is encouraging and rewarding, both for parti-
