The article reviews different rules for impact assessment in Norwegian law and discusses these rules’ interrelation. It discusses when the obligation to do an EIA arises, and the information an EIA should contain. It also raises the question of whether or not these rules provide sufficient information for decision-makers about long-term and cumulative environmental effects.
