Innhold:Ministers in Iceland hold the highest position within the executive branch, each in their own field (d. forvaltningschef). As such, they wield tremendous authority. They both decide on administrative regulations and decisions, although the latter is usually in the hands of the ministries’ employees, and form policy for governing the country, including introducing new bills. It is therefore of utmost importance for general interests and the life of the citizens in the country that the ministers operate professionally, run the country well and use their power wisely.
