Innhold:The existence of an efficient and reliable land registration system is fundamental to support economic development. The wealth of the community, individuals, and companies alike depends on access to capital secured by real estate, which constitutes a major lever for prosperity. Both for the owner and the creditor, the cadastre and the land register make an effective contribution to protecting their rights. Sound land governance is therefore an objective to which all countries must give importance. The first part of this paper describes the different types of land tenure systems in force in the different jurisdictions in Canada, and the organizational bodies responsible for establishing and maintaining these systems. Although based on different registration systems and management models tailored to their needs, land governance in the Canadian provinces and territories contributes effectively to maintaining effective land tenure security. The second part provides an overview of the accreditation arrangements for future land surveyors.
