Innhold:Abstract
The paper examines the status of coordinates in the Norwegian cadastre, including both the legal status and the accuracy and reliability of the coordinates. We discuss the differences in accuracy of the coordinates in the cadastre and the practical consequences of possible inaccuracy, both for the landowners and the public authorities. The question of boundaries with or without physical marks is also considered. The cadastral map of some selected Norwegian municipalities is analyzed and the registered accuracy is visualized using GIS software. The accuracy of the registered boundaries in many cases is found to be too low to be regarded as “fit for purpose”. The registered values of accuracy are found to be both inconsistent and unreliable.
