Sharing economy, technology, and globalization are among the influencing factors. This phenomenon has been mainly observed in the Nordic countries, Switzerland, UK, Austria and Germany, but during the pandemic it has gained great momentum among various scholars and across several other countries. New trends of multilocal living and working, and the implications for sustainable urban development, people and mobility should be further analyzed both theoretically and empirically. The cases of Norway and Finland illustrated in this paper portray the current phenomenon of multilocality as well as possible future trends and factors that may further affect our multilocal habits after the pandemic. This paper can contribute by stimulating debate between scholars, but also practitioners, planners, and policymakers in the Nordic countries and beyond.
