Innhold:My PhD project deals with the issue of sovereign debt restructuring. This is hardly a new phenomenon, since the first cases can be traced back to at least the 14th century, when Henry III, king of England, refused to repay his loans to the Florentine bankers Bardi and Peruzzi, provoking the latter’s bankruptcy. However, the current global financial crisis, started with the subprime crisis in the USA in 2007-8, has brought the issue under the spotlight, and spurred new debates in the legal scholarship.
