Innhold:Abstract: In the post war years (1945-1990) Norway constructed and commissioned an unprecedented number of large hydropower schemes despite considerable political, organisational, technological, environmental, and financial challenges. The purpose of these schemes ranged widely from rural electrification to providing power for energy intensive industry, while others involved international cooperation. The lessons learnt and the solutions to these challenges are described and will undoubtedly be useful in the development of renewable energy generation capacity in the partner countries of the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD).
